Charlie Hebdo Shooting (video)

Gunmen have shot dead 12 people at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in an apparent militant Islamist attack.

Four of the magazine’s well-known cartoonists, including its editor, were among those killed, as well as two police officers.

A major police operation is under way to find three gunmen who fled by car.

President Francois Hollande said there was no doubt it had been a terrorist attack “of exceptional barbarity”.

It is believed to be the deadliest attack in France since 1961, when right-wingers who wanted to keep Algeria French bombed a train, killing 28 people.

The masked attackers opened fire with assault rifles in the office and exchanged shots with police in the street outside before escaping by car. They later abandoned the car in Rue de Meaux, northern Paris, where they hijacked a second car.

Death threats
Witnesses said they heard the gunmen shouting “We have avenged the Prophet Muhammad” and “God is Great” in Arabic (“Allahu Akbar”).

The number of attackers was initially reported to be two, but French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve later said security services were hunting three “criminals”. He said that Paris had been placed on the highest alert.

Another flight Missing (Air Asia Indonesia)

AirAsia flight from Indonesia to Singapore confirmed missing

Indonesia air transport authorities have provided details of the plane’s last position.

“We are coordinating with the rescue team and looking for its position. We believe it is somewhere between Tanjung Pandan, a town on Belitung island, and Kalimantan,” Indonesia’s air transportation director-general Djoko Murjatmodjo stated, as cited by AFP.

Also, air force spokesman Marsma Hadi Tjahjanto confirmed that the Air Force was using the last point of contact to conduct an air search.

According to an Indonesian transport official, there are 155 passengers and crew aboard the plane. Other local media, however, cited a figure of 162 people.

The Sunday Times of Singapore reported that there were 155 people on board the Airbus: 149 Indonesians, three Koreans, and individual passengers from the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The flight was due to land in Singapore at 8:30 a.m. local time (00:30 GMT) and was listed as “delayed.”

AirAsia has confirmed the plane has gone missing in a statement.

“At the present time we unfortunately have no further information regarding the status of the passengers and crew members on board, but we will keep all parties informed as more information becomes available,” the company said.

It added that “search and rescue operations are in progress and AirAsia is cooperating fully and assisting the rescue service.”

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said that services have been “activated” to help Indonesia search for the missing flight.

An Emergency Call Center with the number +622129850801 has been established for family and friends of those who may have been on board the flight.

Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia is believed to be one of the safest air carriers in the world. Until today there have been only two incidents with its aircraft. In both cases they overran runways. One took place in November 7, 2004, at Malaysia’s Kota Kinabalu airport (Flight 104, Boeing 737). Another incident with Flight 5218 (Airbus A320-200) occurred in Malaysia’s Kuching on January 10, 2011.

Sydney Cafe Hostage

SYDNEY (Reuters) – Hostages were being held inside a central Sydney cafe where a black flag with white Arabic writing could be seen in the window, local television showed on Monday, raising fears of an attack linked to Islamic militants.

Australia, which is backing the United States and its escalating action against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, is on high alert for attacks by radicalized Muslims or by home-grown fighters returning from fighting in the Middle East.

Part of Martin Place, home to the Reserve Bank of Australia, commercial banks and close to the New South Wales (NSW) state parliament, was closed off by armed police.

Live television footage showed patrons inside a cafe standing with their hands pressed against the windows. A black and white flag similar to those used by Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria was also visible.

NSW Police tweeted: “A police operation is underway in Martin Place, Sydney’s CBD. People are advised to avoid the area.” Business Insider Australia

Dozens of police including a SWAT team were setting up and a couple of hundred people were being held back by cordons.

Trains and buses were stopped and roads were blocked in the area, with train operators saying there had been a bomb threat

U.K. Sex Workers Protest by Sitting on Each Other’s Faces for Their Right to Fist

A mass facesitting demonstration is taking place outside Parliament in London to protest new U.K. pornography regulations that will hold online porn to the same standards as DVDs: That means no spanking, no bondage, no watersports, no fisting, no squirting, and, of course, no facesitting.

Protestors opposed to the Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014, led by sex worker Charlotte Rose, staged the facesit-in to coincide with a parliamentary debate on what should be allowed in internet porn. Rose argues the new guidelines are sexist, because the list of banned acts seems to target female pleasure.

“These laws are not only sexist but they taking away people’s choices without consent,” she told the Independent.

Lib Dem MP Julian Huppert made a move to annul the new rules, calling it a “very odd” double standard to ban videos of acts that are legal between consenting adults. Huppert “tabled an Early Day Motion in order to ensure that the topic is debated in the House of Commons,” theIndependent reported.

Protestors had a secondary goal of setting a Guinness World Record for most people sitting on faces at the same time—500 people were expected to show up, based on Facebook RSVPs—but Guinness apparently rejected the record attempt.
